Penny

Penny is a household grocery assistant that compares prices and unit costs across Ingles, Kroger, and Walmart. It currently serves one household and is not available to the public.

What Penny does

For each item the household asks about, Penny searches the catalog of every available grocery source and lays the results side by side. Unit prices are computed only when the package size can be read from the product name; when the size is not readable, the unit price is omitted rather than guessed.

A “best value” note is applied only among at least two comparable, buyable options that share the same unit — never to a lone product, and never to something the store does not carry or has marked out of stock.

Penny surfaces a short set of compact text cards in the household conversation: each card carries the product name, its price, the unit price where available, a best-value note where applicable, and a product link when one exists.

Privacy

This page uses no cookies, no analytics, and no third-party trackers. To provide the assistant, Penny stores the household’s pantry items, the retailer prices it compares, and the household’s shopping and order history.
